Hi. I'm trying to think of another description to put here. Any ideas? I'll try again at 420.

DO YOU SERIOUSLY HAVE TO GIVE YAHOO YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO GET A YAHOO EMAIL ACCOUNT? WHY WOULD THEY BE ASKING US FOR IT? HELP ME ON THIS ONE...PLEASE! RICK HAS A YAHOO ACCOUNT AND HE WOULD NEVER PAY FOR ONE. BUT WHEN WE WENT TO SIGN UP FOR ONE, IT ASKED US FOR A "VALID CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT NUMBER. IS THAT RIGHT?

Meg: I've never heard of Yahoo needing a credit card for an email account. Do they have paid versions of their email service now? Where are you trying to sign up? What url?

I'm back again. I did dig around a bit and found that the Yahoo Mail Plus ( http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ ) does require a credit card. The free email doesn't require one that I know of though. You automatically get a free email account when you sign up for something like Yahoo Messenger, and have quite a few of those myself. I'd remember being asked for my credit card, I'm sure.

I don't think so.
This is a link to the Yahoo mail sign up page and it doesn't want a credit card number.

Maybe there are free services and paid ones? Kind of like Picasa or stat counters?

Yahoo offers two different levels: free and yahoo mail plus. Plus gives some additonal features: spam filtering, larger message size, etc.

I've got a yahoo account and I've never had to pay for it. I recently set it up and was never prompted to give any cc information.

No Meg, that is not right. Yahoo has free e-mail accounts and paid e-mail accounts just like hotmail. Go back to yahoo.com and go to sign up for an e-mail account. It should give you the option of a free one of paid one. Of coarse the free will be smaller print but just look for it, it should be there.

yahoo never asks for one..nor does hotmail, gmail, etc, any of the web based email services. Yahoo mail Plus (or premium), does ask for a credit card.

(i'd write more, but i'm mourning the colts loss to the evil, cheating patriots)

John,

I have been sleeping since yesterday when I got home from work. I didn't know what the Bears did....Oh yeah, they had a bye. Cool. I didn't miss too much.

Thanks for the answers...I'll try it again without the credit card.
