Hi. I'm trying to think of another description to put here. Any ideas? I'll try again at 420.

Did you see the movie Broadcast News?

It was really a great movie with excellent dialogue. The following dialogue was spoken by Albert Brooks when he was trying to warn Holly Hunter’s character about the man she thinks she is falling for. The guy is very handsome and smooth talking. Brooks, in love with Hunter, pleads with her to see the guy for what he is:

What do you think the Devil is goingto look like if he's around? Nobodyis going to be taken in if he has along, red, pointy tail. No. I'msemi-serious here. He will lookattractive and he will be nice andhelpful and he will get a job wherehe influences a great God-fearingnation and he will never do an evilthing...he will just bit by little bitlower standards where they are important.Just coax along flash over substance...Just a tiny bit. And he will talk aboutall of us really being salesmen.(seeing he's notreaching her)And he'll get all the great women.

How many power wielding people can we attribute these qualities to? It’s a bit frightening. If you want to get a position of power in this country, just offer to make life as easy as possible, basically buying votes and making the voters even more dependent upon this politician or out government as a whole. These folks don’t want to lose their jobs and they will do whatever they have to do in order to get elected. Once a politician gets elected, even with the most punctilious of all politicians, the money that’s flying around is just too much of a temptation. The system is set up to entice them into following the party/line/money train. Kind of scary...isn’t it?
