Hi. I'm trying to think of another description to put here. Any ideas? I'll try again at 420.

You know...

...I woke up just as angry as I was when I went to bed last night. I laid there thinking about the grandchildren who should have woken me up by jumping on my bed and saying, "Grandma! Will you make us some french toast?" When I finally crawled out of bed and walked through my lonely house into an empty kitchen, I sat at my computer with a cup of coffee and read the news.

I have some problems, it's true. We all do. But, thank God everyone that I care about is healthy. Sean Taylor's family doesn't have that comfort. Four pieces of neighborhood trash were arrested for the murder of the young man yesterday and they will most assuredly get a helluva lot more consideration than the young Mr. Taylor ever got before he was shot in the leg for the crime of being in his own bed this past Monday morning.

His little girl will grow up without a father. His mother will never get to complain, like I can, that her son is going to be 30 years old in 3 days. Sean Taylor will never see that age because 4 thugs wanted some of his stuff. This all just sickens me.

Apparently at least some of the pigs that murdered the NFL player were acquaintances of his. The young man had invited these people into his home and he even paid one of them to do odd jobs around his house. Don't you think that, if the bums had asked, Mr. Taylor would have given them more than they wanted to steal? He would most likely have given them his friendship and I firmly believe that he also would have shared all of his STUFF with them if he could have. They didn't have to kill him...they could have just been friends with the man.

According to Miami-Dade County police Director Robert Parker, the 4 homicidal scumbags "were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone, they were expecting a residence that was not occupied. So murder or shooting someone was not their initial motive."

Really? Well, they didn't have hands full of Fruit Loops...they had hands full of guns. The young football player had nothing but a machete that he kept in his bedroom for protection. That made me think of men I've known who keep baseball bats, tire irons and other such "weapons" under their beds or their car's front seat. Compared to the billy stick that one ex boyfriend of mine kept close, a machete is a pretty nasty implement. But it's no match for a gun. If a healthy, young NFL player can't protect himself, what chance does any other man or woman have?

If Mr. Taylor had kept a gun in his room, he most likely would have taken one of his assailants with him. It might have even saved his life, we'll never know because he didn't have a gun...he just had one colossal knife. That knife and Taylor's muscles should have been all that was necessary to keep himself safe and unharmed in his own home.

But it wasn't. Now he's lying in a coroner's refrigerated drawer awaiting burial.

Maybe I've seen one too many movies, but if I could have, I would have tossed Taylor a gun 4 seconds before he was shot so that he could have defended himself. Wouldn't you have done the same thing? It's too late to do that but it's not too late to protect a law-abiding citizen's right to own a gun if he so chooses. The criminals will ALWAYS have them.

The government uses crime to frighten us into excepting so many restrictions on our Constitutional rights that we can't avoid being searched at airports, having the government listen to our phone calls or call our home a "compound" and fire bomb us. That's what seems to happen if the government finds out that we have guns.

When someone starts rounding up lists of gun owners, I wouldn't want to be on one of them. Lists in general are only good for grocery shopping. Governments shouldn't have a lot of them. After hearing many people make the obvious point that the Nazi's kept a lot of lists, I finally heard some nit wit try to refute that by saying that everything that the Nazi's did wasn't necessarily bad. He did it in a way that actually sounded reasonable...until you remember who he's talking about. They were NAZI'S for God's sake.

It would probably be a good idea to do our best to reign in a bit on the government and it's snowballing efforts to restrict freedoms. Chances are that if your son is ever looking down the barrel of a hand gun, you won't be there to toss him a gun. So, until the government guarantees the personal safety of every single one of us, it'd be a good idea to let law-abiding citizen's have the right to own a gun. I trust my neighbors with their own guns...if some moron doesn't trust them, let him stay out of this neighborhood.

I feel sorry for the football player and his family--no one should die that way.

Communism on paper is a genius idea...but human nature and greed get in the way. If true communism were practiced everyone would be equal and there would be no separate classes.
