Meg, When do you think a person should tell another person that they have an STD?
O...K....Let me think about his one. Off the top of my head, the obvious answer is before you expose them to the STD. I wouldn't wait until the day you have sex. But I wouldn't think you should bring it up on the first date either. I would like to think that I would know when the time was right and do so then. I think the "right time" will eventually come up. As long as you are being honest with yourself and your heart is in the right place...you will know when the time is right. If not, I would probably get to know the person and let them get to know me. Then, if the relationship is getting to the point where you are thinking about having sex...I would broach the subject myself...probably by setting up a nice dinner and telling the other person that I have something important to discuss. Then, enjoy the dinner, and afterward, just tell him/her. You are taking a risk, but it isn't anything you could have hidden for any length of time anyway. What a shame. I am curious, did the person who exposed you ever tell you that they had it? If not, I would consider discussing that with an attorney.
Are there any people out there who could, under the cloak of anonymity, tell us how you handled this delicate situation? You would be doing a lot of people a service if you could find the courage to do so. Did someone expose you to an STD? How did you handle that? What advice do you have for others regarding either protecting themselves or avoiding infecting others? Are there really a lot of people out there who expose others without ever saying a word? Would you stay with someone who was honest enough to tell you? And does anyone know what legal options a person has when they were infected by some joker who never said a word?

(...a little late, I know. I left last night....)
Really, she isnt ashamed that she never uses protection. We live in a small city closely surrounded by two small city's.....?
And that's exactly how she is. When that happened, she was freaking out (and who could blame her?) but it's like "You should've known what you were risking." I am not holding it against her for being promiscuous, but even after the whole event, she didn't change her ways. Still does it.
Funny you should use that analogy...Rick's son got his ass kicked by a 14 year old girl for calling her that word. I had no sympathy for him...I think he got off cheaply...it could have been a large dude.
