I have some good news...
...I spoke with “Sue”. She asked me to call her mother and I did. Her mother WAS upset, but not for the reasons Sue feared, she was upset because Sue didn’t feel as though she could go to her mother with this situation. The mother, “Sally”, is a single mother of 4 girls. Sue is the oldest and Sally said that she blames herself for Sue’s “problem” because “I divorced her father and he disappeared.” The man has never paid child support and Sally has been working 3 jobs for years to support her little family. Of course, Sally wanted more for Sue than she had for herself.
I told her not to be too hard on herself, Sue just found out yesterday that she was pregnant and she literally freaked out. She had been reading my blog and didn’t know who else to ask for advice. And, Sue DID let me call her Mom, I wouldn’t have done it without her permission.
I feel so badly for that little family because of the struggling that they have had to endure. But, after speaking with Sally, I feel sure that they will be all right. Sally is a very loving mother and her tears gave away the love she has for her girls. That seems to me to be a house full of love and I am sure that Sue is in good hands.
On the other hand, there is a “father” out there somewhere who is missing out on the love of 4 young ladies and soon he will be missing out on a grandchild. What a shame that some men run away from something or someone that would make any man proud. I don’t know what it is about some men that makes them think that they are better off without the love of their children.
There was a time and place when salt was considered currency. Money is just paper...it means little more than the THINGS that you can buy. But, the most precious things in life have no price tag. And, there is little in this world more precious than love.
When my son was away from his daughter, I would hear him softly crying behind his bedroom door. Why is it that one man can ache for his child while another man will just run for his life in the other direction? I was lucky, my second husband not only loved the children that he and I had, he fell in love with my oldest the first day they met. You couldn’t tell either one of them that they are not father and son, they would not accept it. Mark and I didn’t work out as a married couple, but I will always love him for being such a wonderful father to OUR children, as well as to my oldest.
Well, I feel much better knowing that Sue and her mother will be together as soon as Sally gets home from work and I am sure that there will be a lot of hugging and crying this evening.
But, in the very near future, there will be a lot of happiness and another little one to hug...and be hugged by. (Oh! Sally is going to call Sue’s boyfriend’s parents. He hasn’t the nerve that Sue has...his parents are unaware.)
Good luck to you both...and the little one! Please send me a picture when the baby is born, I would love to show him/her off for you.
By the way, thanks so much to the people who offered Sue advice, she wanted me to let you know that she read every comment and it helped her make the decision to let me call her Mother. You guys are great.

Wow Meg! This is awesome news! Sally and Sue are obviously extra-ordinary ladies. I'm so thankful that this little family has such a strong mother.
Sue and Sally, my heart goes out to you - for your courage and your tears. Please know that someone on the East Coast is thinking of you and your family.
Auntie,
They will read it. The mom didn't know about this thing but I explained to her what it was and she said she was going to look at it when she got home. Also, Sue said she reads it everyday so she should see it. But, I am going to keep in touch with her by email so I will be sure to tell her to go back and read all the comments. You guys don't know how much she appreciated it...she said that she felt alone in this until she read the comments. I know what she means...I felt terribly alone myself until I started this thing!
