This used to be an apple tree. I don't know what the heck it is now. But, noticed how neatly the lawn is mowed around it. :)

Yes...isn't it lovely. Now, what do I do to get rid of this thing? The lawnmower didn't work.
Assuming it was originally a grafted tree, then what you've got is... whatever the rootstock was. Might be quince. What else do they graft apples onto?
NO! He didn't graft anything, he just cut down the damn tree and let this crap grow around the stump!
