Hi. I'm trying to think of another description to put here. Any ideas? I'll try again at 420.

"Uh Meg,

thanks for your phone number. Ya know you shouldn't post that online where everyone can see it. Guessing that lack of sleep did that to you."

Nope. It was more out of severe concern for my sister. I heard that she moved out of her home that she shared with her longtime boyfriend and I don't know where she is. She is the baby and I'm the big sister so I have to worry. Also, my mom's gone so that's another reason that I have to worry about her.

The last message we got from my mother, through the preacher at her funeral, was to take care of each other.

I'm the oldest and Marie is the youngest. I was 9 when she was born so I got to change her diapers. I wouldn't be happy about it and she would know it. She would be so sad as I angrily changed her diaper. But I could never stay mad when I would look at her big brown eyes looking back at me like that. So, I would smile and she would smile and then she would jump into my arms and hug me. She was a sweetie. I still can't get too mad at her.

But, she's testing me right now! I need to hear from her so badly that I posted my phone number! Do you hear that Marie???

I'm not really too worried about that because anyone who wanted to could find my number anyway. No one could get too close to me and if they did, they wouldn't be happy about the situation they'd find themselves in.

I have gotten a few hang up calls but I think it's a certain nut using the situation to mask a few of her regular, brainless, hang up calls. That reminds me...I think I'll post my harrassing phone call thing.

But, the writer does have a point about my lack of sleep...I woke up Friday at noon, worked all night, changed clothes Saturday morning and went to DUI school. That ended at 5:30 and I went straight home and into bed. I woke up at 7:30 this morning and went back to DUI school and got home a while ago. I'm exhausted. I think I'll sleep until I wake up and then get up and clean the house. I'll get it started and when I get BOTH of my paychecks this week, I should be able to afford a few hours of Merry Maids to help me with the heavy stuff.

I go to the probation office on Tuesday and take the contract that I signed saying that I would finish the school on Tuesday night and that should be the end of my probation. Then, I'll pay some fines, a couple of re-instatement fees and I should have my driver's license back by the end of the week.

I may go ahead and legalize my Aunt's car and drive that for a while and if I do, I should have that taken care of well before the end of the month, probably no later than my next paycheck 2 weeks from Thursday. So, by the end of the month, I should be legal and on the road again!

I volunteered to work Thanksgiving so I was given the weekend before off. So, I think I'll take my little self somewhere if I can drive by then. Even if I don't have a car, I could always rent one. Yeah...I think I'll do that. Now...all I have to do is come up with a destination. Any ideas?

Meg

Oh...here is the harrassing call thing:

Uh Oh.

Hang up calls already. I appreciate a good joke as much as the next guy, but please, use some creativity. Hang up calls? Too easy, I prefer prank calls that have had some thought involved. Take my word for it, you can have all kinds of fun using your phone AND your brain.

A long time ago, maybe 15 years back, I was getting hang up calls and I didn’t know where they were coming from. I had no enemies that I knew of and most of the people I know are smarter than that so I was baffled. The calls started when Rick left for work and continued until right before he came home. This was about the time that they came out with call back features. I subscribed to the call back thing and called back the hang up call. It was Rick’s ex wife! I hadn’t even considered that possibility. I HAD to get back at her as I was very young then.

So, I called the phone company, pretended to be her and had her phone number changed to a non-published number. I may have single handedly created the whole password thing when you call about your phone bill. Anyway, one morning she awoke to her mother banging on the door and asking, “Why didn’t you give me your new number?”The part I am sorry to have missed was the part where she called the phone company and said, “What is my phone number?” She had to go to the phone company and show ID to get her own phone number. I smile just thinking about that scene.

About 25 years ago, they came out with three way calling in my area. One day I decided to call two people and connect them (you just call one of them, click over, call the other one quickly, click again and wait for them both to answer.), then just sit back and listen to the conversation. Eventually, someone would say, “So, why did you call?”

Naturally, someone always responded, “I didn’t call, you called me!”Then they would both say something like this, “Ooohh! That’s spooky.”At first, I hooked up people I knew. I hooked up my high school sweetheart with his best friend. That was fun. Halfway through the conversation, after the “Why did you call?” and the “I didn’t call.” part, I made a clicking sound and said, “Hello?” We all spoke. Luckily, they hadn’t said anything nasty about me. They wouldn’t have, I didn’t meet any really nasty people until I was 24 and I was only 21 at the time.

After a while, I ran out of people who knew each other so I started using the phone book to find John Smith Jr. and John Smith Sr.The only thing I felt bad about was hearing this, “Mom, it’s Grandma, she SAID she didn’t call!” I hope I wasn’t the cause of any clinical admissions.

So, you see, if you put some thought into it, you can have all kinds of fun with the phone. But to just hang up on someone? C’mon, you can do better than that! Can’t you? Personally, I haven’t harassed anyone by phone since the 80’s. I think you can get much more creative and have much more fun now that we have the internet. Don’t you?

Meg,

I remember when we visited you in Chicago when we were all "happy families". I am Steven Koense, Karen's son. Your dad is my God Father, and I am a lot like him in many ways.

Odd, though, I am a divorce lawyer and Mom and my sister Lori were talking about your blog yesterday.
